From the first tooth through the school years, we help kids feel comfortable at the dentist while protecting their teeth as they grow.
CARING FOR LITTLE SMILES
At Trusted Dental & Orthodontics, children's visits focus on what matters most at this age: healthy baby teeth, strong new permanent teeth and good habits at home. We explain things in kid-friendly words and let children get familiar with the room and tools before we begin.
General guidance is to schedule a first dental visit by your child's first birthday or when the first tooth appears. Early visits are usually short and simple, and they give us a chance to check development, talk with you about home care and help your child feel at ease with the dentist.
WHAT WE OFFER
Preventive and restorative care sized for children, with a focus on keeping teeth healthy and visits stress-free.
A short, friendly visit to look at your child's teeth and gums, check development and share tips for brushing and diet at home.
Thin coatings painted onto the grooves of back teeth, where food and bacteria tend to collect. Learn more about sealants & fluoride.
A quick fluoride varnish brushed onto the teeth to help strengthen enamel and lower cavity risk between visits.
Low-radiation digital X-rays, taken only when needed, help us find cavities between teeth and check how adult teeth are developing.
If a baby tooth is lost too early, a space maintainer may be used to hold the gap open until the permanent tooth is ready to come in.
If a cavity forms, tooth-colored composite fillings can repair baby or permanent teeth with a natural look.
TIPS FOR PARENTS
What happens at home between visits matters as much as what happens in the dental chair. For most children, that means brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste (a rice-sized smear under age 3 and a pea-sized amount from age 3) and helping with brushing until they can do a thorough job on their own.
Limiting sugary drinks and snacks, not putting a baby to bed with a bottle of milk or juice, and starting to floss once teeth touch can all help. At each visit, we share tips suited to your child's age and needs.
WHY CHOOSE US
We focus on comfort, clear communication and prevention so children can grow up feeling at ease with dental care.
We use tell-show-do, go at your child's pace and keep parents informed about what we find and what comes next.
Digital X-rays use less radiation than traditional film, and we take them only when your child's dentist feels they are needed.
Bring your kids in alongside your own appointment. We try to coordinate visits so the family can be seen in one trip.
We accept most PPO plans and offer an in-house membership plan for uninsured families to help keep preventive care affordable.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Answers to questions parents often ask about their child's teeth and dental visits.
General guidance is to schedule the first visit by your child's first birthday or when the first tooth comes in, whichever happens first. The visit is usually short: we look at the teeth and gums, check development and share tips for brushing and feeding.
Fear of the dentist is common, and we take it slowly. We use the tell-show-do approach so your child knows what will happen before it happens. For children who are still anxious, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) may help them relax, and its effects typically wear off soon after the mask is removed.
Children's dentistry covers checkups, cleanings, cavity prevention and fillings for kids. Children's orthodontics focuses on bite and jaw alignment and is provided by our orthodontist, Dr. Nathan Nourian. If we notice crowding or bite concerns at a checkup, we can arrange an orthodontic evaluation in the same office.
Most children do well with a checkup and professional cleaning about every six months. Kids who are more prone to cavities may benefit from more frequent visits. Your child's dentist will recommend a schedule and adjust it as they grow.
Many children benefit from both. Sealants protect the grooves of back teeth, and fluoride varnish helps strengthen enamel. Your dentist will look at your child's cavity risk and recommend what makes sense; our sealants & fluoride page explains each treatment.
